What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?

Don’t be afraid of failing! You will come across challenging tasks as a an engineer but you will learn the most from building yourself up from your struggles. You are more than a grade on a test!!

What organizations outside the College of Engineering do you belong to?

I have been an OnIowa! leader and captain for three years and have been involved with Dance Marathon for all four years! I also work for the Operations Excellence department at the hospital across the river!

How are you an "engineer ... and something more"?

I’m an engineer and I’ve held a leadership position in every organization I’m a part of!

Is there something else you'd like to tell us about yourself?

I made 3 rescues as a lifeguard in high school.

What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa?

There are so many opportunities and things to do ANY day of the week. It’s impossible to be bored here! Everyone is so welcoming here and it instantly felt like home in Iowa City.

Who is your favorite professor and why?

Dr. Priya Pennathur - she opened my eyes to a field of industrial engineering I am now incredibly passionate about! I can’t thank her enough for helping me find an internship in the healthcare sector.

What has been your favorite course?

Operations Research was a really helpful class. It laid the groundwork for a lot of other classes I’ve had and taught me how applicable Industrial Engineering skills are in industry.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa?

I love movies and music so any time I can go see a movie or catch a concert with friends, I do!
