What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to live with other engineers in an LLC- it is a great experience! I met my main friend group on my floor and the floor above me, and I would definitely say that I was a better student freshman year because I was surrounded by other motivated people who I could work together with on assignments and studying.
What organizations outside the college of engineering do you belong to?

I have been involved with the Hawkeye Marching Band, the club soccer team, and the Newman Catholic Student Center.
Have you had any international experience? If so, where did you go, for how long, and what did you do?

This past spring break I had the opportunity to travel to Ireland with the university band program for a week. We performed two concerts, did plenty of sightseeing of the beautiful country, and got to be in Dublin on St. Patrick’s Day!
How are you an "engineer ... and something more"?

I am an engineer and something more by being involved in music on campus. I have been a member of the Hawkeye Marching Band for two years and I play flute in the concert band.
Is there something else you'd like to tell us about yourself?

I taught myself how to play the ukulele!
What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa?

I love the community of people on campus and especially the friends I’ve made through the College of Engineering. Also between University events and fun things happening downtown, there’s always something going on for my friends and I to go to!
Who is your favorite professor and why?

I really liked my Engineering Problem Solving 2 professor, Professor Braun. He was funny, very engaging to listen to, and I learned everything I know about coding so far from him.
What has been your favorite course?

My favorite course so far has been Mechanics of Deformable Bodies (aka def. bods). My professor was fantastic and the problems we learned how to solve were very applicable to the types of things I want to do once I’m working in industry.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa?

I love to get outside whenever I have free time- going to the Pentacrest to read a book, playing frisbee with my friends in Hubbard Park, or just getting food somewhere downtown and enjoying the outdoor patio seating.
