Who are you?

What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?
Get involved and say yes to opportunities. You learn a lot in classes but you can learn just as much in student organizations, study abroad, TA, research, or a campus job.
What organizations outside the college of engineering do you belong to?
I am president of SWE (Society for Women Engineers) and secretary for IISE (Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers)
Have you had any international experience? If so, where did you go, for how long, and what did you do?
I studied abroad with a program called CIMBA. I got the opportunity to go to Italy for a month and take two classes!
How are you an "engineer ... and something more"?
I am an engineer and I love to travel! I have traveled to over twenty countries. My favorite places are Germany and Ecuador.
Have you done research with a professor? If so, what department was the professor in and what was your research about?
I have done research with a professor in the Industrial and Mechanical Engineering Department. My research is focused on the human factors aspect of pain management in the healthcare field
Is there something else you'd like to tell us about yourself?
I am trying to learn to play the ukulele!
What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa?
There is also so much opportunity to get into leadership and challenge yourself to grow. Everyone around the university is also encouraging and wants you to succeed.
Who is your favorite professor and why?

Geb Thomas. He had a very interesting class (Information Systems Design) and genuinely cared that I was successful in his class. He was also very personable and kept his class engaging.
What has been your favorite course?
Design for Manufacturing because I loved learning how to 3D design and operate the machines in the DFM lab.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa?

I enjoy cheering for the hawkeyes at soccer, volleyball, football, and all other sports events. I also really love going to cultural events hosted by different student orgs.
