What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?

Make use of the small college feel. Get to know other students and your professors. It is very easy and will lead to a great experience.

What organizations outside the college of engineering do you belong to?

Area club soccer team

How are you an "engineer ... and something more"?

I very much enjoy playing the piano. I’m very passionate about being active and am usually out running or playing soccer everyday. I also work at a tutor for high school students in math.

Have you done research with a professor? If so, what department was the professor in and what was your research about?

Yes, I conducted research with the Mechanical Engineering department in wind energy. We have focus on site selection of wind turbines generating optimization maps for areas such as Lake Michigan. We have also worked on assembling a small scale research turbine.

Is there something else you'd like to tell us about yourself?

I transferred from Iowa State my freshman year. Feel free to find me and ask about it.

What is your favorite part about being a student at The University of Iowa?

The small and personal feel of the College of Engineering but having all the resources of a Big Ten University. Hawkeye sports are pretty fun too.

Who is your favorite professor and why?

Justin Garvin, he is very good at walking you through new concepts and always keeps them interesting.

What has been your favorite course?

Fluids, I really enjoy modeling airflow.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time at The University of Iowa?

I will go for a run or play soccer almost every day. When I have time I will also go over to the music building and play the pianos there. Additionally, I spend a lot of time hanging out with friends and watching sports.
