Dr. John Klier, senior director of research and development at Dow Chemical Company, Midland, MI, will speak on "Perspectives on Innovation in a Global Market Place" to a college-wide audience from 4:30-5:20 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in Mcbride Auditorium, Mcbride Hall. Dr. Klier's seminar is part of the Randall and Barbara Meyer "Grabbing the Globe" Seminar Series. Dr. Klier oversees new products research in North America, India, China, Germany and The Netherlands.

There will be a reception for Dr. Klier from 3:45-4:15 p.m. in 4505 Seamans Center.

All Engineering students, faculty, staff, and college guests are invited to attend.

The "Grabbing the Globe" Seminar Series is designed to prepare Engineering students for global success. It recognizes UI Distinguished Engineering Alumni Academy member Randall Meyer and his wife, Barbara. Meyer, who earned a UI Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering with highest distinction in 1948, began a 40-year career with Standard Oil Company, New Jersey (now ExxonMobil Corporation) immediately following graduation and served as president of Exxon Company USA in 1972 and chief executive officer in 1976, a position he held until his retirement in 1988.
