Allen Bradley, professor of civil and environmental engineering and faculty research engineer at IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering, has been appointed departmental executive officer of the department, effective July 1.

Bradley, who joined the college in 1994, succeeds Michelle Scherer, professor of civil and engineering and faculty research engineer at IIHR, who has served as departmental executive officer since December 2010.

“Professor Bradley is a talented researcher and a dedicated, award-winning teacher with a deep commitment to the excellence and advancement of the department and the college,” Alec Scranton, Engineering dean, said. “He is widely recognized by our students for his dedication to student success, and by his peers for his experience leading curricular enhancements and accreditation reviews.  He is a renowned researcher in the areas of hydrology and hydrometeorology.”

“I also want to take this opportunity to show the College's appreciation to Professor Scherer for all that she has accomplished as Departmental Executive Officer of Civil and Environmental Engineering,” Scranton added. “Those include hiring and mentoring of nine faculty, the establishment of an Environmental Engineering undergraduate degree, the creation of an innovative Sustainable Water Development graduate program, and an impressive record of high impact research.”

Scherer will continue in her role as Donald E. Bently Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and will focus on her accomplished research and educational activities, he added.
