Moala Bannavti, CEE PhD student, won the Technical Poster Competition at the 2019 National GEM Consortium Conference in Chicago in September. Moala is a second-year PhD student in the Sustainable Water Development (SWD) graduate program. Her poster was on her interactive multi-layered geospatial visualization tool for PCB mass and concentration of sediment, water, and air fate. The tool makes data accessible to researchers and scientists interested in PCB contamination in East Chicago, Indiana.

The National GEM Consortium’s mission is to enhance the value of the nation’s human capital by increasing the participation of underrepresented groups (African Americans, American Indians, and Hispanic Americans) at the master’s and doctoral levels in engineering and science. Three CEE graduate students in the SWD program participated in this year’s annual conference.
