Carpooling and ride-sharing? Composing music? There’s an app for those activities — and many others, too.

And they’ll all be on display from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, at the “Modern Marvels” exhibition at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Iowa City.

Presented by the University of Iowa College of Engineering Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the exhibition includes demonstrations for middle and high school students, business representatives, alumni and anyone with an interest in locally grown technology.

Upper-level undergraduate electrical engineering students will demonstrate projects from senior design, embedded systems, and software engineering.

Projects include:

* Mobile apps designed to help users
* Creative and practical inventions including devices
* Mechanisms that advance medicine, technology and research

The event highlights this year’s senior design projects from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Senior Software Engineering Projects, and the five top projects from the department's Embedded Systems course.
