Engineering alumnus Sajan Goud Lingala (PhD 2013 Biomedical Engineering) is joining the College of Engineering as assistant professor of biomedical engineering, effective June 1, 2018.

Lingala (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sajan-goud-lingala-44a94351/) comes to the UI from Siemens Healthineers, Princeton, NJ, where he was senior research scientist.  There he was responsible for researching and developing novel next generation automated data-driven magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods (eg. sparsity, low-rank, deep learning, artificial intelligence based methods).  He holds a US patent in "unifying reconstruction and motion estimation in first pass cardiac perfusion imaging Siemens."

As a doctoral student at Iowa, Lingala's studies were in advanced image reconstruction algorithms for accelerated dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
