A paper by Kathryn Klarich, National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in the University of Iowa Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was the most read papers during the month of April in Environmental Science and Technology (ES&T) Letters (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.estlett.7b00081).  The paper is titled "Occurrence of Neonicotinoid Insecticides in Finished Drinking Water and Fate during Drinking Water Treatment."

Earlier this month, Klarich received the prestigious Editor's Choice Award for the same paper.

University of Iowa co-authors on the paper were Greg Lefevre, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering and assistant research engineer at IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering, and David Cwiertny, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering and associate research engineer at IIHR.

Klarich currently is pursuing a master's degree in environmental engineering. Her research focuses on the fate of pesticides in engineered treatment systems. Her primary interests and competencies are in process engineering, technical writing, environmental compliance/monitoring and experimental design and execution.
