A. Jacob Odgaard, professor of civil and environmental engineering and research engineer at IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering, has earned the designation of Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer (D.WRE) by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE) Board of Trustees.

AAWRE was founded in October 2004 under the leadership and guidance of members from the American Society of Civil Eengineer's Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) and has since experienced rapid growth, with over 700 Diplomate professional engineers.  AAWRE was the first Academy created within Civil Engineering Certification, Inc. (CEC).  Its mission is to provide excellence in leadership by elevating the professional practice of water resources engineering through advanced certification, continuing education, and ethical practice.

AWRE will hold its annual Diplomate Induction Ceremony at the 2018 EWRI Congress June 4, 2018, in Minneapolis, MN.
