FIRST Tech Challenge: Virtual Coach Professional Development

During August, 2020 and in collaboration with several FIRST Tech Challenge programs from across North America, we will be hosting a Remote Coach Professional Development. This Professional Development is open to all coaches, new or experienced.

We hope you find information during this Professional Development to be helpful and beneficial to you and your team(s).

A few important items:

  • All session times are in Central Time (CT)
  • The series of sessions will be recorded and made available after the conference concludes.
  • Sessions will not include any information about the game or rule changes for 2020-2021. The game and rules, and any changes, will be revealed at Kick-Off on September 12, 2020.
  • Since each region's Public Health Situation and Social Distancing Policies are different, we do not know how the season will be implemented for your specific region. And the season implementation may change mid-season. Information about implementation will be communicated directly from your Program Delivery Partner as the season gets closer.
  • This is for FIRST Tech Challenge coaches & mentors.
  • Coaches and mentors only need to sign up for the "blocks" they want to participate in. A block is either from 8am-12:45pm AND 1:30pm-5:00pm CT. A coach/mentor can sign up for as few or as many "blocks" as they wish.
  • Check out the Agenda (as of 08/02/2020) of the Coach Professional Development. A finalized agenda, with session descriptions and speaker information, is listed below each date.
  • Registration is Now Open!
    • The College of Education Baker Teacher Leader Center (TLC) is offering 1 CEU for any participant who completes 1.5 days of the Professional Development. There is a $100 fee for the CEU credit. To register for the CEU credit, please visit the TLC Course page.

The daily themes for this Professional Development are the following:

Each day will be divided into two blocks:

  • Morning Block: 8:00am-9:00am CT; 9:15am-10:15am CT; 10:30am-11:30am CT; and 11:45am-12:45pm CT;
  • Afternoon Block: 1:30pm-2:30pm CT; 2:45pm-3:45pm CT; and 4:00pm-5:00pm CT

Participants will need to indicate which "block" or "blocks" they would like to attend. After a registration is completed, an email will be sent with a separate link to register for the Zoom session. For security purposes, each Zoom call will have a passcode for that specific block. Please retain the email with the passcode.

Participants, do you have a question or would you like to share some "Best Practices"? Submit them via our Padlet!
