Ching-Long Lin, Edward M. Mielnik and Samuel R. Harding Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, professor and departmental executive officer of mechanical and industrial engineering, faculty research engineer at IIHR--Hydroscience & Engineering, and researcher at the Iowa Institute for Biomedical Engineering, delivered a keynote lecture October 18 at a workshop on "Pulmonary Drug Delivery: Computational Fluid Particle Dynamics and Emerging Functional Imaging Technologies" in Prague, Czech Republic.

The intensive two-day workshop, hosted by Siminhale COST ACTION MP1404, featured a mix of talks and featured lecturers from the academic and research communities, the industry, and the medical professions. Included were state of the art in human airways model construction, biodistribution of inhaled agents, in health and disease, inhaler devices design and optimization issues, and quantifying regional deposition via Computational Fluid and Particle Dynamics (CFPD) and lung imaging.

The primary objective of Siminhale is to develop, create, and maintain a pan-European multidisciplinary scientific network that will coordinate and enhance research and development in the field of inhaled medicines with the aim to accelerate the development of a new generation of effective and safe inhaled medicines.
