THE Multi-Ethnic Engineering and Sciences Association (MESA) will celebrate its 20th anniversary at a celebration to be held May 5 at the Seamans Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences.

A reception is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in the John Deere Plaza with a recognition program set for 7:00 p.m. in the Stanley Auditorium, 1505 Seamans Center.  The program will honor distinguished guests, alumni, and students who have helped shape th MESA tutoring program over the two decades.

The event is sponsored by the College of Engineering, UI Chief Diversity Office, Iowa City Community School District, Society of Black Engineers, the college's Ethnic Inclusion Effort for Iowa Engineering program, and the college's Outreach, Admissions, Scholarships, & Inclusion Office.

MESA is an umbrella association that combines the resources of the University of Iowa Chapters of  S.H.E.P. and N.S.B.E., with student and faculty support, encouraging academic interactions from diverse fields and ethnicity. Undergraduate and graduate students benefit from conferences assembled by both associations as well as a support network for varied scenarios.
