In my first few months as dean, I have been welcomed warmly into this vibrant and supportive College of Engineering community. As I prepared to join the college, I spent many hours learning about the college’s strengths in engineering for human health, advancing environmental stewardship, and deploying emerging technologies. Without a doubt, this college is set apart from its peers through its innovative educational experiences and transformative research.

On the pages that follow, you will get a snapshot of our collegiate faculty, staff, students, and budget. We also share some highlights of faculty and student successes and continue to emphasize our core mission and vision relative to our strategic planning. A key theme of this Annual Report is that our strong culture of collaboration enables impactful research and creates a dynamic academic experience for our students. At Iowa, our engineers – both faculty members and students – can collaborate with colleagues in health sciences, business, education, and liberal arts to produce innovations that respond to global challenges and change lives.

I am excited for the future of the College of Engineering, a college that is improving quality of life for Iowans as well as for people across the nation and around the world.
